Pura Paddle Owner & Certified Yoga/SUP Instructor
How Pura Paddle came to be.
My name is Kim Olson and I am the founder and owner of Pura Paddle, a company specializing in Yoga, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and the combination of the two. My goal is to offer these activities to the northwest suburbs of the Twin Cities.
I have been passionate about physical fitness since I took my first exercise class over 35 years ago and have experience with a wide variety of activities. My current favorites besides Yoga and SUP are biking, rollerblading, hiking, and group fitness. I strive to live an overall healthy lifestyle and to support my family and friends in bettering themselves.
I was first introduced to SUP in September 2013 when my family took an introductory course on Lake Superior in Duluth, MN. I was hooked immediately and purchased my first paddleboard—an inflatable model for easy travel. I took it with me on a trip to Hawaii that winter and tried SUP Yoga, again falling instantly in love with this unique practice.
Unable to find SUP Yoga in the northwest suburbs of Minnesota, I began my journey. I have completed a business class, a 200 Hour Yoga Certification, SUP Instructor, Accredited SUP Yoga Instructor, Sculpt Yoga Instructor and Bring Your Baby to Yoga training. I purchased eight boards, built a trailer to carry them, and am now ready and excited to share SUP and Yoga with my community. It has been a challenging and wonderful journey to make Pura Paddle a reality.
“Pura” stands not only for water but is also an expression for leading a full, meaningful, wonderful life. My goal for Pura Paddle is to share ‘Living a Full Life’ with as many people as possible. Hopefully that will mean sharing friendship, Yoga, paddleboarding, and SUP Yoga with you.

Floating yoga isn’t as daunting as it sounds. “People expect to fall in,” [Kim] Olson said. “Most of them don’t.”
Students can switch to a longer board for added stability. They’re encouraged to modify poses. And they can ditch the bathing suits for yoga togs. Usually, only their ankles get wet as they wade in. ”
